Welcoming 2018 with a free Duxis Battlesuit in every order!

The year is ending and it has been a bright one for The Ion Age.  Thank you to all our customers for continuing to grow our Space Opera wargaming dream throughout 2017.  To usher in the new annum we have an offer now on.  We will put one random IAF030 Duxis Battlesuit worth 5.00GBP from the eight variants into every order placed for free.  A customer may place as many orders as they wish and we will put one for free in each of them.  You also get your Reward Points on your orders as normal and you may use your accumulated points upon your orders in this period and you will still get the free Duxis Battlesuit.  We are giving you a little something as a thank you.  The offer ends midnight GMT 2nd January 2018.  You need do nothing but place your orders. Go HERE and browse. Perhaps some new Beotan Werewolves or a Tohlic Armoured Crawler or a Patrol Angis game pack?

We have many thing miniatures made as well as new vehicles which will begin releasing in January 2018 with something really fun for the Shia Khan Empire.  That is to come and for the moment let me show you a little more about one of our favourite models which is now in new molds as of early December.  The 'Royal Gift' otherwise known as the ultimate in personal single armour the Duxis Battlesuit is a prize possession for nobles, barons and veteran knights across the Prydian Precinct.  It has three melee orientated variants and five ranged variants.  See them all HERE.

Princess Cyon knows a lot of things.  I mean a lot.  It was lot before the Reord bonding and though it's even more now I can tell you that she came up with the Duxis MkI on her own.  Technics, Fabrication and Structure too.  All of it her idea.  To make her point she wore the prototype upon entering the Adden chambers and it made her point just beautifully to the Council.  We knew the Khanate had returned and we had the reports of the first contacts from Camarthen Prime but the Princess, she had her father's knowledge of the times of the first Khanate War.  We confirmed it later but in those chambers and on that day Princess Cyon said one word as she strode towards us footfalls heavy.  Encased in armour and over twelve feet tall she said 'Warlord' and then activated the holo emitters attached to the prototype's shell.  I think there was not a knight or baron in the place who did not shrink a little in their seats.  Out of thin air a monster appeared.  Like a Man in shape but larger; far larger.  She drew an energised blade longer than a Starvaulter is tall and conducted a mock melee with the projection...and she won.  Hours of discourse followed and all the while Daphne Cyon stood in her prototype Duxis Battlesuit and held sway.  The Warlords were more than a Retained Knight could cope with so make a Retained Knight more than they already were.  We did.  Now in Camarthen space we meet those hulking monsters with metal of our own.  Its a close fight but now its a fight we can and we will win!

MkIII Duxis Battlesuit
The Duxis Battlesuit known to some as the 'Royal Gift'. IAF030 can be given a number of roles from a knight to melee specialist to ranged purposes in play and stands 30mm tall. Cast in white metal in 15mm scale it requires assembly and has a good degree of pose choices through its variants.  Composed of an upper body, lower body, head and then a choice of weapons and arms (gauntlets) from eight variants the Duxis is a versatile machine. Chose body angle, choose head angle and direction, choose arms and weapons.  It can be posed many different ways.

Here are the types of Duxis Battlesuit which match up to the lettered variants:

IAF030A Duxis MkIIIA ' Bladesman' with Cetra Shield Hand and Octan Prime Energy Blade.
IAF030B Duxis MkIIIB 'Winnower' with Cetra Shield Hand and Trabs Energy Spear.
IAF030C Duxis MkIIIC 'Brawler' with Left Gauntlet, Right Gauntlet and Heraldic Shield.
IAF030D Duxis MkIIID 'Anti-Infantry' with one Gauntlet, Moth 88 Rotary Cannon and Heraldic Shield.
IAF030E Duxis MkIIIE 'Pride Taker' with one Gauntlet, Valerin 15Mw Laser Cannon and Heraldic Shield.
IAF030F Duxis MkIIIF 'Indirect Fire Support' with one Gauntlet, Bodkin 55mm AP Howitzer and Heraldic Shield.
IAF030G Duxis MkIIIG 'Anti-Vehicle' with one Gauntlet, Fretan II Rail Gun and Heraldic Shield.
IAF030H Duxis MkIIIH 'Warlord' with one Gauntlet, Angis 25mm AP Cannon and Heraldic Shield.

As we say here in Scotland for the new year...Happy Hogmanay and may next twelve months bring you fortune, good luck and many gifts beginning with this free battlesuit!

The Great Space Opera Blog campaigns in The Ion Age

With the festive season upon us and the snow falling it gives me great pleasure to present this short article on a brand new blog which is all about a new campaign set in the universe of The Ion Age. Rhys contacted me a couple of weeks ago and told me of his new campaign which is being played out on his The Great Space Opera Blog part by part. It has not taken long for Rhys to become fascinated with the Prydian Precinct and the civil war which has torn it apart and I have greatly enjoyed reading his plans and his reviews too. Go HERE for the blog or read on for more about what has occurred thus far.

Beginning with an outline of the characteristics of his planned campaign Rhys lays out where he will go and what will happen. See that HERE

From there he looks at the contents of the excellent value Patrol Angis game pack which gives you all you need to begin playing in one box. This article is HERE and he talks about the contents of the game pack and then shows off his own painted set of Prydian Army and Yordists. Infantry, Portable Weapon with Gunners, Personalities and Battlesuits as well as the unique Knight Errant which you get only in the game pack. I give one picture here but there are many more in the blog post.

Prydian Intelligence Services Despatch (P.I.S.D.). Outpost Ajax has recently received re-enforcements to its expeditionary force pool. The re-enforcements consist of a detached unit of female retained knights with Angis rifles as well as heavy weapons support. In addition to this, an Espaten weapons platform has also been in-loaded with its specially trained Retained Knight crew of 2. These re-enforcements are a welcome addition to the Prydian force pool. This blog post speaks of the battle on Hertford Prime starting to heat up as reinforcements arrive from off world to join the campaign. Go HERE. An Espaten Portable Weapon Platform and a pack of Female Retained Knights. Have a gander and read on.

The most recent Ion Age posting on the Great Space Opera Blog is about one of our most favoured codes in the 15mm range; the Duxis Battlesuit. Deciding that the Prydian Army on Hertford Prime needed more muscle to take on the Marcher Baron threat three of the machines are now in the red and white. Go HERE. The campaign is starting to take off now and I am sure in 2018 there will be the rattle of Angis fire as the Throne attempts to take the world back for the forces of good

Keep an eye on The Great Space Opera Blog. I am enjoying the build up to the campaign taking place. If I were to guess on where Rhys will go next in terms of expanding his forces it would be in the area of bikes. The Burgeon Grav Bike gives Retained Knights a lot of mobility and fits right in with the open world and skirmish level of play which is going on.

Where ever you are in the world..or indeed in the universe a happy holiday season to you from all of us here!

Werewolf Command Beotan 4th Tesseran released!

Our last release of 2017 is now online!  Adding to the Space Werewolves from last month we give you the command poses for the Beotans of the Shia Khan Legions.   Sculpted by Sam Croes these lycanthropes are fearsome enemies who love short range and close combat.  Go HERE or read on for more information.  Our final dispatching shipping date before Christmas is the 15th of December 2017.  We will return in January with more awesome new 15mm scale space opera releases.

“Foremost among the Legions of the vast and ancient Empire of the Shia Khan is the 'Triaria' an icon which appears on the banners and vehicles of every client race.  Accounts of the Triaria date from the Ban of Prejudice and from artefacts found within the Dolo expanses towards the ruins of Aldan. While the icon can be seen rendered in different colours and carved into stone and other materials it is most observed in shades of red and scarlet.  Client races such as the Maligs and Beotans have their own legacy script and icons but all make use of the Triaria to some degree.  The meaning of the icon cannot be firmly established as it is truly alien and no captured Khanate has been willing or indeed we think able to give a precise answer.  The leading theories for the Triaria are as follows.  It is an all encompassing signal of identity, of unity, among all of the client races. This is possible. Or that it refers to the Matter Gateways and the unknowable energies which transport the Legions across the galaxy, being a bringer to this region of space. Lastly that it is the icon of domination of the Great Khan who has such might that all will eventually be crushed by its power as it closes in from every side.  Lastly that it is a slave emblem which marks out the so called client races but this cannot be verified as no member of the Shia Khan themselves has thus far been seen in the Prydian Precinct.  Study continues on the battlefields of the Camarthen Cluster.”
From the Dragon Iconography Reinstated, New Glastonbury 4340 IC

Above is an image of the Triaria as seen on the banner of this brand new code's standard bearer.

Data Pulse the Canthus Monocycle

Welcome to December 2017 at The Ion Age and let me begin by thanking everyone for what was our busiest Black Friday event ever.  Now that we are in the final month of the year we will have one more release to present to you next week following up on the Beotan 15mm space werewolves; more on that at the time but it will make those who got the new were's really happy!  Right now it  is the turn of month long 20% deal off the Canthus Monocycle which is the typical light recon bike of the Khanate Empire and its Legions.  Go HERE or read on for more.

With what we know now the loss of the Brightening Star should not have happened but then we were only beginning once more to face an enemy that our long dead forefathers had through banished forever.  The Fleet did not arrive in Camarthen space for many months after the loss of the Belkus Labyrinth.  It took time to gather the knights and their musters while thinking always of the threat posed by the Marcher Barons.  But we did not stand idle.  Perhaps we should have.  Lectus Bowar led his retinue of a hundred Starvaulters and fifty thousand of Prydia on a rapid strike again the fledgling Khanate.  The Brightening Star was one of forty Cassillis class Portable Castles that landed in the vicinity of the ruins of Pelcan city.   She was not the only one lost but she was prime in the failure of the containment campaign.

The few survivors of Bower's task force tell of the Brightening Star being taken by surprise by elements of the Styx Legion.   Several Tesserans of Canthus pattern monocycles powered straight up the Star's foremost sallying ramp and into her belly soon after landing.  Most were obliterated by Angis fire but one must have reached the fore Hurwent generator and detonated against it.  Cowardly but it worked.  The Brightening Star became her very name for an instant as the generator went critical.  Only those outside scouting survived the blast.  Bowar vanished along with his flagship and it set the campaign back badly.  The Canthus should not be underestimated and it will not be again.

As of Lectus Bowar no one has seen him in the last two years but like all of Princess Cyon's closest he is no mere man.  He will have survived.  He will rise once more in flame and rage.

Knight General Obermann.  Fleet Command.  4331IC

IAF007 Canthus Monocycle
This pack contains three white metal miniatures which are the Canthus with Legionary Rider, the Legionary Rider on Foot and the Monocycle with no rider.  This means you can field your Canthus with great flexibility and three different modes.   As always this code can be bought as a pack or as single miniatures or select the three packs and save 10% option on the page.  Go HERE.  It is detailed with its rules for play in Patrol Angis as an infantry sized vehicle in IAB03 The Khanate Return.

We are shipping out orders during December as normal up until 15th December which is our last mailing date to reach UK addresses but we recommend ordering around the 8th or so if you wish delivery in the USA and further abroad in time for the festive celebrations.  We have a lovely set of four festive themed 15mm character miniatures which you can add to your collection HERE.

If you like our miniatures then Patrol Angis is for your skirmish wargaming and its expansion Callsign Taranis for larger vehicles and structures.

Enjoy the special offer and remember that when you order from us you set up an account with the website.  Not for emails but rather that you may get the Reward Points which each order earns that you can trade in later for discounts and free things.  You get 100 Points as a free welcome bonus!  Extra value from The Ion Age.

Werewolves of the Khanate Beotan 2nd Tesseran released!

As we outlined after the release of The Khanate Return the third book in the Patrol Angis series of titles we would be expanding the Shia Khan Legion forces.  We are delighted to make our November 2017 release with the first pack of a brand new client race; the Beotans. Sculpted by Sam Croes these lycanthropes are fearsome enemies who love short range and close combat.  Go HERE or read on for more information.

The Lycanthrope Beotans
Once the Matter Gateway was secure under the control of the Shia Khan Empire the battle for Camarthen Prime began in earnest. Digging to the surface and then unleashing a sustained campaign of conquest some of the battles were to capture installations and the secondary smaller starport of the planet located in the snowy north. This task was given in main part to the Beotans who were well suited to this kind of warfare. Humans have known of this species by hereditary legend and memory for millennia and initial contact with Beotans were greeted with shock. Beotans are Lycanthropes, otherwise named Werewolves!

Around the height a Human a Beotan is bestial in appearance with thick black or brown fur and long claw like nails on feet and hands. Their mouths are filled with vicious teeth and their eyes are well capable of seeing in low light situations. They operate in Tesserans and Ordo formations just like Legionaries and make use of the same weapons systems. They eschew the wearing of any kind of armour instead favouring a harness upon which they hang all their needed gear as well as gruesome trophies of combat. Beotans are often just called Lycanthropes by their enemies and do not tend to mix with other Khanate client races. They do work with Psycoborgs or Warlords in urban combat missions.
IAB03 The Khanate Return page 30.

IAF148 Beotan 2nd Tesseran
This pack contains eight different poses of 15mm scale white metal miniatures.  Beotans are Werewolves who dress in a combat harness and are used in cold climes and urban warfare.  The second Tesseran is armed with Mia 9.2mm Mpi close range weapons and is composed of troopers and a low level officer.  It is one of four Tesserans which make up a Beotan Ordos or platoon.  Covered in fur and with reversed knee they lope at high speed into battle and stand a little taller than a Human (17mm tall).  You have the option of purchasing a pack or three packs saving 10% or single poses from the pack for your collection.  Go HERE.  Price 6.00GBP per pack.

Above are two scenic shots from our own play of Patrol Angis and two scale shots of a Cold Climes trooper next to a Beotan and a Psycoborg and Legionary next to a Beotan.

Though this is the second Tesseran it is the first of this new client race released and we will be following up with more next month and after that too as our next expansion continues.  In Patrol Angis the Beotans are just about the fastest infantry on foot in the game at nearly twice the pace of a Pioneer Legionary!  We wanted to give you the smell of prey in November with this first pack.

Aris just had his great five page free article on force building in Patrol Angis, download it HERE, and it is a great read.

Go along to our 15mm Publications page for lots more for free and for the three books in the series.  The game statistics and more for the new Werewolves are to be found in The Khanate Return.  If you want to get into the game we recommend the excellent value Patrol Angis game pack or the digital downloads of the books.

Our Black Friday Event is underway with free postage and other deals and special offers.  Read about it on our BLOG and as well as the new Beotans we have the popular Havelock Battlesuit bundle back just for this period until 27th November plus 25% off the Hab Dome this month!  Read the blog post for all of this and the coming Cyber Monday mega 24hr deal or go HERE.  Thanks.
