Planetary Militia at The Painting Agency Blog

We have mailed out over a thousand white metal 15mm Planetary Militia miniatures since released last month and now that a load of Steornede Battlesuits are stomping off too it was a pleasure to see Allison M over on his blog put up a posting. You can visit the full posting on his blog HERE

The Peoples Protectors. PPP Home Guard

“The People's Planetary Partnership have the odd distinction of being the only sustainably functioning anarcho-socialist society in human history, existing across multiple star systems with a government based on group arbitration and consensus-building. While no official apparatus exists to enforce ideological conformity, this governmental structure is sufficiently popular that dissenters generally find themselves facing social scorn and little cooperation from their fellow citizens.

Consequently, outsiders have variously described the PPP as "stodgy but egalitarian" and "numbingly conformist". The PPP remain technologically inferior to their main stellar-political rivals the Cultural Collective, largely because of their refusal to create sentient artificial intelligences. They maintain that "leashed" AI's constitute slavery while unrestricted ones represent an existential threat to humanity. They loosely ally themselves with the photosynthetic Chloros, whose biological collectivism they admire.”

I think Allison's take on using the Planetary Defence Forces, the other name for the PM, is really nice. Combines my own thinking about what these troops are which is mid tech level, basic, core and localised to a world along with a new story and uniform that make them quite different to look at. Across the infantry and the Hazelwurm Patrol Car too. Here are pictures of our own uniforms on the same miniatures. If you want to see them on our website go HERE and HERE

Geo Shelters at the Painting Agency Blog

Its great to see Ion Age buildings painted up in schemes other than our own and today I saw a blog posting by Allison M over at the Painting Agency which did just that.  A pair of our excellent 15mm scale Geo-Shelters painted up in a sort of haz-mat style with strong yellow with red detailing making them look really striking.  On the left the Laboratory dome and on the right the Habitation dome types.

You can click on the link above to visit the Painting Agency blog post where there are more details and another image too.

If you are interested in the Geo-Shelter for your 15mm science fiction or modern wargame collection you can see all five types of the model on our website HERE. Useful in many different settings from our own space opera to near future, post apocalypse, arctic survival, refugee camps and temporary command stations during zombie outbreaks plus many more each of our domes is about 50mm wide and 30mm tall.  One or two or half a dozen as scattered terrain on your table looks great.

Above is our own picture of the five types of Geo-Shelter and as you can see they do look rather different in grey and neutral tones.

Thanks for Reading.

Thanks Everyone Salute Season is now over!

What we began the day with and ended it with
Its been a month of real fun and extreme activity for Alternative Armies, 15mm.co.uk and The Ion Age with promotions, new releases and special rates all leading up to the mighty Salute 2014 wargame show in London at the weekend there.  The Salute Season is now over.

We are getting back to normal now and while it will take us a few days I wanted to thank everyone who ordered across our websites, those who gave us kind words and those who took the time to speak to us at the show.  It means a lot and its my one time a year to meet customers face to face and to chat to fans and followers.  I had more than one hundred conversations on Saturday on subjects from Flintloque to Patrol Angis, from USEME Prohibition Gangsters to Age of Might and Steel and Alien Squad Leader too.  I got to meet others in the industry and what fine hard working fellows they all are each with a firing imagination and a love for miniatures and wargaming.

Alternative Armies decided to host The Ion Age on the trade stand this year and it got great feedback with dozens of new customers and admiring comments too.  Next time we may do something different but being such a diverse company there are many possibilities and there is a lot of time until the next show.  We gave out near the two hundred free IMP08 Muster Girl miniatures we took with us (one with every purchase just like online) and Malig Madness was fully sold out along with the new HOF28 Charger APC kit which is out this week on the website.

What will be the theme of next year's Salute show?  No one knows at this point.  No one knows anything about the future of Salute at this moment but for Alternative Armies it will be another month of fun around and at the show you can be assured of that!

Thanks Everyone here's to 2015!

Ellen and Ripley get green by Eric Leidberg

Skilled miniature painter and 15mm fan Eric Leidberg has put up some photos of his own painted vision of Ellen and Ripley our female character Retained Knights in the Ion Age.  As you can see he used some great green shades and they look very different to the red and white of the Prydian Army.  I have taken these images from his google plus feed.  You can visit him here if you are on that system.

IAF017 has had a great response from IonFans and its fantastic to be able to feature another wargamer and figure painter's vision of them.  Click on the link if you want to see our own painted versions.

Well done Eric!

15mm SCI-FI Google Community

Canlastrian Retained bring down a Havelock Battlesuit
I am often so busy working that I do not spend the time on the web that many other hobby followers and other companies do.  In fact when I was emailed this morning by a fan of The Ion Age and 15mm.co.uk asking about a release notice we had put on the 15mm SCI-FI Google Community I had to sit back and say...what is that?

Well I had a look and its HERE.  Lots a good material about releases, painting, hobby posts and more and in fact thanks to Mark Burgess and others we are already on there.  So from this point I have added it to the favourites on the right hand side of the blog roll and I will give it a gander several times a week.  I might even post on it about interesting things.

Have a look!
