Using HOF 15mm Vehicles in Patrol Angis by Andrew Thomas

Back in the spring I was contacted with an idea to use the Charger APC's, Scrofa AFV and Maginot Tower from the Alternative Armies 15mm science fiction range called HOF in games of Patrol Angis. After all, I thought, there may well be a world in the Prydian Precinct that uses vehicles like those for local law or planetary defence forces.  Andrew Thomas was kind enough as a fan of Patrol Angis to send over some play test rules for such an event and it is our pleasure to give you these as a free article.  Read on for more.

Planetary Militia using HOF Vehicles by Andrew Thomas
This free article gives you some introduction along with game statistics to use Alternative Armies 15mm scale sci-fi vehicles and structures in Patrol Angis.  To download it from our dropbox please click HERE.

With kind permission I have been able to put the codes featured onto The Ion Age website so that if you are keen to get them with your Ion Age reward points in your customer account you can!  Go HERE for them.  Frankly it is my thinking that these are the ancient ancestors of the vehicles such as the Adder, Mullo and Taranis.  Since the Resource Wars of 21st century Terra are part of the history of The Ion Age and the Security Force  Alpha which these in HOF come from is part of those wars. But then of course that was all before the Imperial Commonwealth.

During July 2017 you get IMP47 Happy Burger Bin Bot free in every order placed.  You can also get it on its own and there is a great pack of all four Happy Burger bots which are great for any 15mm setting.  I love Happy Burger!  Go HERE for this.

This is the last news from us in July and the next thing from us will be on the 1st of August with a big announcement alongside the last monthly free miniature IMP48 (end of year four). My thanks to Andrew for his work on this excellent little article.

Playing Xin in Patrol Angis a new free booklet

The Xin updated free booklet for using in Patrol Angis is here!  The Prang have had their new releases and updated free booklet but now it is the turn for the Trade Fleet of the Xin Hegemony to get their update.  These fantastic 15mm scale space opera Chinese inspired soldiers are well liked by 15mm sci-fi players the globe over.  We now present the updated free six page booklet for using the Sanbao in your games of Patrol Angis.  Get it on the website from our dropbox HERE or read on and download it in this article.

The updated Xin booklet contains fiction, background and more as well as statistic tables for infantry, infantry sized vehicles and larger vehicles too.  It is an evolving play testing document and introduces vehicles which we will create in the future for this force in the game.  You will need a copy of Patrol Angis to make use of this free booklet and for the larger vehicles we recommend the expansion Callisign Taranis.  Download the Xin in Patrol Angis free PDF from our dropbox by clicking HERE. Thanks and enjoy!

If you like the idea of a trading space fleet which does ply the stars buying and selling and fighting then perhaps the Xin are for you.  See their page on our website HERE.

During July we have an offer on the core pack of Xin Rifle Infantry too.

Have you tried Patrol Angis?  The Ion Age's 15mm scale skirmish system.  There are three books in the series so far and they can be had in print or as digital downloads as well as value bundles and a game pack too.  All HERE.  For skirmish you need only the Patrol Angis book, to add larger vehicles and more then get the expansion Callsign Taranis and to fight the alien Shia Khan Empire you need the first army book called The Khanate Return.

Patrol Angis
15mm Scale Skirmish Wargaming
Wargame rules for use with 15mm miniatures and models. An enjoyable playing experience in a space opera setting unlike any other. Tactically challenging but not complex, these rules reward players for their playing and not by the use of endless charts, tables and over powered characters. Once familiar with the game rules, in a single hour you can play a full game with another person or several or on your own in solo play. The rules will not take long to learn and are suitable for wargamers of all ages from novice to veteran. They are fun and can be expanded into other titles in the series.  Patrol Angis is a skirmish level of wargame which means it typically has between a dozen and about forty 15mm scale miniatures a side in play during a game. It works well with more but those amounts are ideal. Most games have one Platoon sized force per player and have one or two or maybe even three players. A Platoon or Lance which contains typically twenty two (22) miniatures. In Patrol Angis you play either as the Prydian Army in its quest to reclaim worlds lost to the Marcher Barons during the Civil War or you can play in the employ of Canlaster or Yordist or any of the other dozen smaller array of Marcher Barons. This includes playing as a “Conda”' or paid professional mercenary for any side.

This is low intensity warfare title where troops mainly on foot, root each other out over small objectives. It’s not massive, not often glamorous, but it’s pure adventure, it’s the stuff of heroes and it’s skirmishing at its best! Easy to get into and to build upon. It’s the starting point for your wargaming in The Ion Age!

A4 Book, 64 Pages.  All the mechanics you need to play plus more is in the book.  Here is a short list of the contents of the book and if you can look at example pages.  All pages are packed with content.

An Alliance between Prang and Man against the Khanate

The trust was young and it was fragile but in its actions it would gain the nourishment of trust and through that it would gain vital strength. It had been only three standard year cycles previously when Ambassador Throaq of the Prang had offered peace and a pact to act alongside Humanity in defeating not only the raiders of his own species but also the looming menace of the Khanate. General Canvarus, formally of Faercycle II was promoted to knightly rank by the Reord who spoke for the Council of Addan in this and given the quest of managing the military affairs of the two space faring armies in the Camarthen cluster. At first the alliance came near to faltering when unaware Condots in the service of the Throne fired upon detachments of the Prang Army on the nightmare world of Mim II while hunting raiders who had carried off goods and more importantly the retro-psychotics needed for life upon that world had burned the domed settlements to the purple razor grass. Apologies were made for this and accepted. Next came the pitched battle in orbit and then upon the soil of Draff where the raider fleet of Captain Vozer was decisively defeated by the Dogat-Cenga of Commander Rotza alongside the 159th Knightly Regiment of Prydia in a fusillade of beams and bullets at the aluma mines of Draff III. Celebrations were had afterwards and friendships of fire and threatened death forged.

In 4334 IC contact was lost with the populous world of Myrdan III which had been a target of Prang raiders in 4328 IC and thus had been given a garrison of a hundred Dogat-Quals of Prang Army, some two thousand soldiers with their supporting vehicles and equipment. This garrison was joined by the ten thousands of the 807th Muster Regiment and the 712th Regiment as some two hundred thousand veteran Planetary Militia all centered around the city of Yellatan upon the Vale of Down; a natural wonder. It had been mostly quiet in the intervening years and the garrisoned Prang had formed bonds with the local Humans offering their great physical strength for farming and industrial tasks and teaching lessons of their music and crafts. Regular contact was lost as several fast ships moved in system. A transmission was made by emergency Ancep Generation which gave the dragon rampant warning. The attackers were of the Shia Khan Empire. It took two weeks for the joint fleet of Commander Rotza and General Lord Canavarus to make the transitions needed to arrive into Myrdan space.

Upon the arrival of the stellar vessels of the joint fleet in system contact was restored to a besieged Yellatan which was desperately holding the line again four full Khanate Legions and an estimated Malig horde in the hundreds of thousands. Myrdan III a jewel of a world could not be allowed to fall into the hands of the Shia Khan. Reports had been filed from other worlds in the greater Camarthen cluster which told of isolated or small scatterings of Dragonships wreaking havoc having evaded the space blockade around Camarthen Prime. Few had been this far away from the site of the Matter Gateway and they had all been stopped by harassed Prydian forces often at great cost. This would be a larger task.

While most of the planetary landings took place aboard Cassillis and Moat types of portable castles dropping from the skies on columns of fire Commander Rotza offered the opportunity to try a more exotic means of reaching the fields of Myrdan III. Discovered on Progea the home world of the Prang race and having been there for eons beforehand an ancient device which could transport matter instantaneously was located on Rotza's flagship. Though it used similar principles to the Ancep Drive it was far, far more advanced and precise. It was not understood by the Prang. Its expansive raised floor grid could hold over a hundred armoured Prang troops and then deliver them in a blinding flash anywhere within a direct line of the ship to a high degree of accuracy. The exotic teleportation device was used to great effect to place Retained Knights as well as Desteria into the vulnerable rear of the alien foe and to put Prang down into the besieged city directly through the raised Hurwent Shield. Despite repeated requests Commander Rotza did not allow Prydian fabricators and experts to examine the teleportation device despite Starvaulter imposed asking.

The fighting is well under way for control of the lush farming world and with further Prydian and Condot regiments arriving it is expected that the Khanate will be expunged from the Mrydan system soon. Prang and Human fight side by side and despite their different methods of war, weapons and physicality they are allies. This will matter all the more in the war again the Khanate as well as all the other threats that lurk within the Dolo Clouds and the vast expanses beyond the Prydian Precinct.
General Lord Canavarus, Myrdan III, Myrdan Stellar System 4334 IC

IMP47 Bin Bot free for all July 2017 and Happy Burger Bot pack

On more Worlds than the Arks ever saw! Its so good you will wear out your jaw!
Its the taste that gives you the finest feeling!
Stop on by for a Smile and some good taste meal eating!
We love to fill you up so...look no further than Happy Burger!

In the Prydian Precinct there are guilds which span whole worlds and while most of these are governmental and financial as well as military there are others which are devoted to a purely commercial end. As the Ancep Drive began to spread the news of the Code Gallant and the glue that would bind the worlds of the precinct to New Glastonbury and the Tor another idea travelled with these pioneers. From New Glastonbury a cook and former soldier Jedard Eackson took his idea of a take away eating house that would cater to those on a modest income who wanted taste more than the nutrition of a basic diet. Happy Burger was birthed on this notion and on every world, colony, settlement, asteroid any and all meat and other protein based animals of any kind allowable were turned into patties and then blasted with super strong spices. This gave a universal taste. A Happy Burger meal is the same everywhere. By the time of his death Eackson at the ripe old age of one hundred and sixty had introduced robotic staff into his eating houses mainly due to the high turnover of Human staff whose noses could only take so much. Happy Burger Bots are pre-programmed to be cooks, waiters and more. As the Prydian Civil War has spread many outlets of Happy Burger have been abandoned but their bot staff continue with their tasks attempting to serve empty meal boxes to passing League and Prydian Army soldiers.
