Fifteen new 28mm Malig Space Goblins for the Shia Khan

 “The Maligs….Vermin. Savage and cruel with a taste for the sadistic and prone to acts of lunacy and utterly needless violence, the name given to their small green or mottled brown humanoids is Malig. Taken from records which make frequent mention of these creatures, second only to Legionaries, their name suits them. They are malicious and deadly. Maligs are Goblinoids and, while shorter and weaker than Humans, they are numerous in the extreme. Rather than seeming to define a formation many Legions treat a horde of Maligs as an attached source of cannon fodder. Cunning, cowardly but rather effective at killing, given superiority in numbers and opportunity, the Maligs should not be underestimated. With second rate armour and weapons and also some rather odd contraptions, the Maligs are often the bane of Planetary Militia or unfortunate Muster patrols. They are the lowest rung on the command ladder along with Betrayers.”

Warlords of the Shia Khan new big 28mm Ion Age releases

 “It was the appearance of Warlords among the ranks of the Khanate that led to the development of the Duxis and other marks of Battlesuits. Battlesuits are fashioned to be giant humanoids to wage war against actual giant humanoids. A nightmare of giants who could lift a man from the ground and smash him to pieces with ease. The Warlords are flesh and blood but hulking creatures much like a Human in form though standing twice or more the height of a man. They are commonly referred to as ‘Ogres’ and are another Khanate slave race. Warlords are often under the command of Legionaries and are used as the infantry hammer to smash into tough areas for the Khanate. They carry the largest of infantry and support type weapons such as the Maia 12.7mm Chain Cannon which is also found used in Legionary Portable Weapon Platforms. Not possessed of a great deal of intelligence they are, despite this, the most dangerous soldier yet encountered by the Prydian Army. Warlords operate in small groups of two to four or five within Legionary platoons and are never given command of even a force of that level.” - from The Khanate Return.

Big and Brutal it is our pleasure to present news and release for the Warlords of the Shia Khan in the  28mm Ion Age Range.  Now on the website are THREE different 45mm tall miniatures in both metal and now in resin versions too.  Metal for the purist and collector resin for everyone else.  While two of these three are the original 1990’s sculpts in new molds the third one, new IA239, was created by Matt Beauchamp (who has sculpted many miniatures for Flintloque including the Trolka) and fits right in!

New 15mm Malig Space Goblins (more than fifty poses total) added to The Ion Age

The Legions of the Shia Khan Empire are the main fighting force of the Empire and the expendable cannon fodder of the Legions are the Space Goblins or Maligs as they are known.  Drawn from endless slave worlds in great hordes the Maligs are treated roughly and given weapons beyond their understanding. Commanded by all and in command of nothing.  Shoved into Tesserans (8 Troops) and Ordos (32 Troops) the Maligs don't last long in combat but they perform a valuable role; they kill Humans.  Crass, brutal and often savage the word Malig is hated by all.

IAB03 The Khanate Return

An Army Book for the Patrol Angis game system.  You need Patrol Angis and Callsign Taranis to make full use of this expansion title.  This Army Book brings you to the Camarthen star system for a desperate campaign for possession of a planet upon which sits an alien Matter Gateway. Now that it is switched on the gateway has brought a mythical enemy of Humanity back to reality from far across the galaxy; The Shia Khan Empire. Making use of the Patrol Angis rule book for skirmishes and the Callsign Taranis expansion book for larger games you can now add the Khanate Empire and also Planetary Defence Forces to your games. Read all about the tragic fate of Camarthen Prime and the start of the second Khanate War as a world burns. You can then create and assemble your own Tesserans and Ordos (platoons) along with vehicles and more for the Khanate with armoury and army lists. Then consult army lists for the Planetary Militias to do the same with Troop Types, Armour, Weapons and platoon composition guides. There are also advanced rules for both new armies covering Nebula Charges, Humascare,and Robotic Infantry among other skills and equipment. The book ends with three small scenarios of varying complexity for new and experienced players. This Army Book joins up with other titles expanding the forces and the universe of The Ion Age. Put forces from a half dozen miniatures to more than a hundred including vehicles into play. Free expansion to The Khanate Return book with additional general and client race rules

“The Shia Khan Empire favours energy based weapons over those using projectiles as ammunition for the majority of its Legions.  While other instructional vids will be dealing with the Maia and Juno classes of weapons, our subject here is the designated Jupiter series of plasmatic weapons, primarily the Jupiter 46mm Plasma Rifle.  The Jupiter Plasma Rifle is a heavy infantry weapon in the weight brand of some sixteen kilograms for the gun itself and another twenty kilograms for the linked power supply.  It has been observed in use by two alien soldiers with one manning the weapon and the other handling the power supply and ensuring function.  As such it is not the most mobile of infantry carried weapons.  However using dedicated power supplies within their Segmentum pattern armour along with enhanced strength, Nox troopers can make use of the Jupiter on their own, both wielding and charging it themselves.  Khanate plasmastic weapons use a similar technology to our own which we estimate is some century and a half more advanced with a superior discharge and kill potential in infantry sized deployments.  A chamber within the Jupiter Rifle with a spherical size of 46mm across is superheated and injected with a tiny amount of material which is then accelerated from the barrel using an array of linear magnets.  The resultant projected blast of plasma can be accurately aimed at moderate to long ranges superior to our Hermit class.  We have only estimates of usage duration that a typical power supply linked will allow for twenty shots before significant charging is required or supply switched.  Battlefield reports and vid feed show Jupiter shots penetrating Alwite Powered Armour with relative ease and survival rates from injury by Jupiter Plasma Rifles are very low.  Commanders in the field recommend the destruction of captured Khanate weapons and power packs as instances of booby trapping and remote overcharge and detonation are common.”

Client Races and Skills for the Khanate Empire

A six page free article which gives you additional rules for use in Patrol Angis for both the client races (Maligs, Nox, Beotan and others) as well as a list of general skills, gear and traits which can be used by all troop types.  A great resource written by  Aris Kolehmainen which adds right into (from page 29 onwards) IAB03 The Khanate Return.  To download it from our website CLICK HERE.

The Khanate Army is composed of endless troops who pour from the Matter Gateway in the Camarthen star system.  The main military structure of the Khanate is the Legion.  Each legion has thousands of troops who are in the main Legionaries in their distinctive reflective glimmer suits and breather helms, with Pioneers with extra armour but there are also the Nox, power armoured elite legionaries, Warlords who are huge brutes with massive firepower and Psycoborgs robotic weapons of terror.  There are also the verminous Maligs who swarm to the command of the Legion and are used as cannon fodder and to tie down human troops The Betrayers who are humans coerced or mind wiped into fighting for the Khanate.  Then the Beotans who are savage lycanthrope warriors used for cold climes and city fighting. Legion uniforms are typically single colour suits such as the red of the Styx Legion or the green of the Medusa Legion with a black or white helmet.  Officers sometimes have elaborate golden weave and cloaks.

IAF163 Retained Post Echo our release for July 2018

“Brilliant with the energy flowing through its blade the first swing of Esquire Quiver's Octa Sword took the left leg of the flightless bird clean away from its body with a spray of super heated blood.  Screeching the seven foot tall avian creature collapsed throwing its Malig rider clean over its razor sharp beaked head.  Quiver reversed the sword and in a glittering orange arc used it to sever the head of the bird before cutting into the back of the sprawling Malig ending the enemy's attempts to free a Cupid laser pistol from its combat harness.  All around him Quiver could see other Retained Knights of the 308th Regiment likewise engaged with the Shia Khan at sword point distance.  They were greatly outnumbered by their goblinoid foes and in the spaces between the habitation domes of the settlement it meant that every Prydian was fighting for their lives without pause.  Powered swords flashed in glittering arcs while Roaz axes rose and fell in a murderous rhythm and Pelleas maces smashed into flesh and bone.  The aliens had either known that the meeting was taking place or, perhaps more likely, it was simply a coincidence that the lance had been in the wrong place when a horde of Maligs decided to set up their camp here.   

Bullets spanged off of Quivers Alwite Armour doing little harm but scoring lines in the delicate film layers that made up the camoflage Chameleon Circuit which caused his form to blend into its surroundings.  At this range the Malig gripping its Maia 9.6mm mpi could not have failed to see him.  He brought the Octa sword up and rounds exploded as they impacted against its blade....”

The fifth post of Retained Knights ready to see off enemies as diverse as the Marcher Barons and the Khanate Empire.  These knights are skilled in the arts of close combat and make use of powered melee weapons. Mix them in with your other knights for assault lances. Later this month we will have a free Patrol Angis scenario featuring the new miniatures called 'By Sword Short and Long'.  A close in vicious fight which sees goblinoid Maligs trying to encircle a lance of Retained Knights with battlesuit support who are conducting talks with a Xin Trader; they will have to cut their way clear.  This full scenario takes place in the Camarthen stellar cluster after the activation of the Matter Gateway and during playtesting it was really intense!  Look out for the article.
