Data Pulse the Hab Dome core of our 15mm Terrain Range

Early on in the initial expansion of Humanity back to the stars within the Prydian Precinct it was noted that although large cities could be built given time in the short term a need was logged for structures which could cope with variable terrain and planetary conditions.  Designing such structures was beyond the abilities of all but the core systems who turned to the pioneers who created the ubiquitous Rubbacrete and Golglass.  These pioneers created materials which revolutionised construction and brought about massive improvement in lives all across the Precinct; The Seorc Compono Guild.

Seorc Compono Guild (SCG) brought their finest minds to focus on the challenge and created one of the miracles of the century the Habitation Dome Riser System (HDRS).  The HDRS would be standardised and shipped aboard vessels heading off world anywhere in the Precinct where they could quickly accommodate a sizeable population.   It would be more than housing though as the HDRS featured additional modules which could expand the living area and turret or assembly mounts for specialised purposes.  These purposes varied but typically they included self defence, fortification, repulsar platform landing pads, spire communications, hurwent shielding and power generation among others.

The HRDS can be found on more than fifty planets and countless vacuum environments (it is a pressurised structure system) and is utilised by everyone from the Prydian Army to the lowest of the Marcher Barons and civilian authorities too.  Single Hab Domes to small groups and hard points right up a city of a hundred thousand people all in HRDS towers.  In some locales they never got around to replacing them before the Civil War began.  Camarthan Prime was one of those places.

IMP30 Xin Monkey Bot free miniature for February 2016!

“The arrival of the Xin Trade Fleet commanded by Grand Admiral Hong Tu Quin in a star system often brings great excitement to the peoples who live on the planets there.  The hundreds of vessels that make up the fleet will divide up and visit every world with smaller shuttles and landers descending to the ground before laying out their goods to entice and to trade. While the troops of the fleet the 'Sanbao' are only used when a threat is encountered there are other more discrete means of self defence.  Foremost among these are the Onyx robots such as the Onyx Monkey.  Programmed and built to move around cargo, to retrieve orders and to climb into places Humans would have a problem reaching there are hundreds of non-sentient bots aboard every Xin vessel.  When trouble is encountered a robot such as the Onyx Monkey can be switched to a different mode and controlled by Xin merchants, officials or commanders to fight an enemy.  The monkey bot has a long tail it uses for carrying but it can act as a whip as well.  A hidden but valuable asset when the time comes.”

This month we are totally about space opera style Chinese miniatures in the form of the new Xin Trade Fleet range.  We will make all of our releases for the month on the 11th February and alongside this there will be an 'Info Burst' article too about the Xin.  Above you can see an example of the superb quality of the new miniatures in the form of a Sanbao trade fleet soldier armed with a heavy blaster (16mm tall).  Below is a scale shot showing this month's free miniature next to the unique free miniature in the coming Sanbao platoon pack, then one of the Xin Warrior Monks in super heavy armour and lastly the 'Jade Ape' battlesuit of the Xin.

Rewards Programme upgraded and expanded!

When we began The Ion Age we had a dream of a unique miniature universe and while we have been building towards that for two and a half years we have gathered many hundreds of regular customers. These customers, as all customers do upon their first order, signed up to the Rewards Programme when they opened a personal account with us. Every order with us earns Reward Points and those points can be used to get discounts or free items in or on future orders with us. I have had a fair number of emails and pings from IonFans over the last month thanking me for taking the time to not only make up this big PDF but to give it away free.  I am happy to have done so. There was also a desire to see the images from the PDF in full.  These images were taken during our own internal playtesting of the rules and stats in the PDF.  I am happy to oblige and present to you all of the photos with a short caption under each telling what is happening.  Please not this is not an After Action Report (AAR) and that the images were all taken at one time and not during play.
