IAF165 Desteria Demi Charlie close combat heavy knights now released!

“MkII Noblesse Powered Armour. Stopping short of actually building armour that must be piloted rather than worn the awesome Noblesse pattern is worn by Desteria Knights into the thick of battle. Fully sealed titanium alloy with an average of 27mm thickness across the body Noblesse makes use of the Chameleon Circuit and also uses the Celo 9 ultra thin layer of insta-nate ablative shell designed to shatter when impacted by enemy fire. This additional layer of protection along with paldrons of re-enforced titanium makes Noblesse three times more protective than MkV Alwite. Some Desteria fit the large Delver X jump jets to their armour while others opt for the cabled generator cells for on board energy based weapons such as the Valerin laser. All Noblesse armour features the flexible manipulator Impact Fist which can perform delicate tasks as well as smashing up to one foot of rubbacrete. Noblesse carries a built in primary weapon on one arm with large sealed ammunition reserves.”

IAF172 Lord Pompous in Desteria Armour released

Back in September last year it was my pleasure to present to all the IonFans out there the tale of a new hero in an article by our good friend Aris Kolehmainen.  After this article was put online it was downloads some three thousand times and momentum grew for its titular character to be made into a miniature in his own right.  Gathering support resulted in an agreement from us and now Baron Pompous is released in all his splendour!  Our only release for this month is now out! A Spooky Characterful November 2018 at The Ion Age

“Happy Burger does not often put a foot wrong when it comes to marketing their food.  Well, there was that incident with the rocket powered skates on the drive through dinastations but that was a...fairly...isolated incident.  However they did put both feet and indeed their legs in the wrong place with the Grim Reaperbot campaign.  It was a nice idea.  I mean who does not love having a custom bot cut the top from a promotional Happy Burger meat tube held by the customer with the chance to win a prize in the process.  Sadly the titanium scythes the Reaperbots were fitted with were a bit long for the job and often they overshot the tube held up by the customer.  More than fifty thousand dead in one morning across the Precinct.  So many lawsuits and then quickly hiding the bots. After the Gurtan Activation the bots were taken out of mothball and scrapped but some were never put in storage and had simply wandered off into the cities.  Shame...it was a real tasty meat tube that year.” - The Grim Reaper Bot.

Marcher Barons, Nobles and Diodine Sparrow 15mm packs released

The Council of Addans and Marcher Barons

The worlds and systems of the Prydian Precinct were organised into a loose alliance overseen by the Council of Addans, all with the desire for peace and prosperity at the end of the thousand years of dark times. In the year 4001 IC in the star system of New Glastonbury, the council was established. It was here that the Ancep Drive was developed, and this helped make it a natural choice, but New Glastonbury prime is also the place where the Tor is located. The Tor is a huge artificial satellite or moonlet that hangs above the planet, a place of truly ancient age and fashioned not by the hand of man. New Glastonbury and the Tor are the focal point of the Prydian Precinct.

For more than two centuries the Addans oversaw the pacification and then flourishing of the fifty nearest star systems, leaving the outer reaches much to their own devices. Members of the Council of Addans are always Marcher Barons whose local power in the ownership of planets or moons gives them great say in the massive council chamber located on the Tor. Matters which affected the whole Precinct are the remit of the Addans, such as trade and the building of starships, while matters within the domain of each Marcher Baron on the council is their own concern. In times of war, the Barons contributed their own troops to the cause under the leadership of a Knight General appointed by the Addans. At the top of the structure is the throne for the Prydian Precinct it has a royal family and always a king or queen upon that throne with whom ultimate authority resides.

A delicate arrangement of balances which became unspun with the death of King Cyon leading to the Prydian Civil War. Now Princess Daphne Cyon now leads the Prydian Army against the Leagues of Yordan and Canlaster and other rebelling Marcher Barons. A delicate balance of power based on the Throne and the Marcher Barons has unravelled leading to a Civil War.

As you can see from the extract taken from Patrol Angis the notion of nobility is central to life in the Prydian Precinct.  To be in the Retained a small degree of nobility is needed (if differs from world to world) such as by birth or by extended family or noble deed or the ownership of property or significant assets.  Those without join the Muster and hope to advance into the Retained.  Above the typical Retained are the Nobles themselves ranging from the lowest who commands only a few knights to those who lead lances and then entire regiments.  Those at the apex are the Marcher Barons who oversee whole Condot companies, nations and even planets.  There are several thousand Marcher Barons and they wield colossal power.  Now you can add such nobles to your Prydian Army or League or Condot collections.

A thousand years before the outbreak of the civil war that would pull Prydian space apart the last Khanate war forced the detonation of a universal potent bomb. This free full Patrol Angis scenario sees the Quarrel Company travel to Mallum IV on the request of the reclusive Baron Abbo for a mysterious task only to be dropped into the midst of a new planetary war between the League of Yordan and invading League of Canlaster forces. Abbo is dead but it turns out there is a data slate of incredible value which the small Quarrel Company detachment must sneak out of the Baron's underground hab complex..but will they escape before the Leagues bring the place down around Diodine's head?

Morag of Vagan a tale by Michal Janecek

It was my great delight to get a short tale with some excellent pictures from IonFan Mr Michal Janecek who really likes the Afara Strider mecha in the 15mm Ion Age range.  

His own collection includes some cool colour schemes such as that of Morag.  He is also a new designer who currently has one vehicle released with us the mighty Tohlic Armoured Crawler.

Mercenary Afara Strider Pilot

Morag had lived as one of four children of common family in system Vando and almost whole her life she wanted to live on her own but this was very unusual for a young girl like her. As civil war came, she decide to enlist the muster regiment. She received a training as muster of league of Yordan. She became a soldier with some technical specialisation. She went on many systems, saw few battles but it wasn‘t what she had though.

The turning point was at Marlow  – the hard battle between Yordists and Clansters which finished as great stalemate. The battlefield was covered by dead bodies and less or more damaged or destroyed vehicles. No one cared of anyone. She left her cover and shocked wandered through the battlefield. She found heavy damaged Afara Strider model 26WA with almost shot off its Valerin laser, broken its left hand, but able to move. She used her technical knowledge and set the Strider in move out from battlefield.

With help of some native mechanics (in exchange for some valuable loot from battlefield) her Strider became ready to fight. She replace its Valerin laser with Octasword and broken hand was replaced by almost new one with shield from model 26WB. She started her mercenary career.

Her Strider was like colourful ghost – some parts were green, some blue… some in raw metal… but in many battles was enough just to show Strider up and those who were dare to fight her was good practice to train the driving and fighting with her Strider. Those battles were only poorly paid but her Strider became a legend. She painted it white and pink as she did with her Alwite armour (what found on the same battlefield as her Strider).

In Keek system she was seen by Steiners and the commander of Steiner’s expeditionary forces hired her, because of Strider isn’t the king of the battlefield, but better to have one on his own side than on the other and this is how started cooperation of Morag with family Steiner, the rulers of system Melian. She is on her own, but with very close connection with Steiners. This connection brought the last modification – a large communication equipment on back of her Strider because when she is on the battlefield she is the queen of it, the army of one and she needs to know where is her presence needed at the most.

“Foremost among the Legions of the vast and ancient Empire of the Shia Khan is the 'Triaria' an icon which appears on the banners and vehicles of every client race.  Accounts of the Triaria date from the Ban of Prejudice and from artefacts found within the Dolo expanses towards the ruins of Aldan. While the icon can be seen rendered in different colours and carved into stone and other materials it is most observed in shades of red and scarlet.  Client races such as the Maligs and Beotans have their own legacy script and icons but all make use of the Triaria to some degree.  The meaning of the icon cannot be firmly established as it is truly alien and no captured Khanate has been willing or indeed we think able to give a precise answer.  The leading theories for the Triaria are as follows.  It is an all encompassing signal of identity, of unity, among all of the client races. This is possible. Or that it refers to the Matter Gateways and the unknowable energies which transport the Legions across the galaxy, being a bringer to this region of space. Lastly that it is the icon of domination of the Great Khan who has such might that all will eventually be crushed by its power as it closes in from every side.  Lastly that it is a slave emblem which marks out the so called client races but this cannot be verified as no member of the Shia Khan themselves has thus far been seen in the Prydian Precinct.  Study continues on the battlefields of the Camarthen Cluster.”

IAF151 Beotan 4th Tesseran

This pack contains eight different poses of 15mm scale white metal miniatures. Beotans are Werewolves who dress in a combat harness and are used in cold climes and urban warfare.  The fourth Tesseran contains the Ordos command and special poses for your force.  It is one of four Tesserans which make up a Beotan Ordos or platoon.  An officer with enhance visor and Mia Mpi, banner bearer with pole topped with Retained helmet (pole is supplied bare without banner), Medic with staff and gear, Comms specialist with Cupid pistol, two different Troopers with Juno Rifle and two dead Beotans one face up and one face down.  Covered in fur and with reversed knee they lope at high speed into battle and stand a little taller than a Human (17mm tall).  You have the option of purchasing a pack or three packs saving 10% or single poses from the pack for your collection.  Go HERE.  Price 6.00GBP per pack.
