IMP15 Witch Knight free miniature for November 2014!

So how are we going to go about making the November fright themed free miniature a good companion to last years Knight of the Dead?  It's got to be Halloween and scary but at the same time lets make it a little bit softer and going in a different direction to leering skulls and pumpkins.  How about making it a female miniature?  Playing on the theme of the 'Knight'.  A 'Witch Knight' and she should have elements of Ion Age armour and equipment but also her own look.  A pointed hat for sure and a broomstick...ah a tech broom stick.  Also a cloak but with a bare midriff too to make it clear she is a lady of scare but also charm.  I am sure wargamers will love this one and it will sit really well next to the Knight of the Dead for the hundreds who already have that IMP miniature.”

The IMP15 Witch Knight is November 2014's free miniature which is automatically put into every order at the rate of one per order of any value.  It can also be bought in any amount too on the monthly IMP page of the website.  She is wearing elements of Alwite powered armour as well as a hat and a cloak.  In her hand is a futuristic broomstick which could function for flying or as a weapon. She stands some 17mm tall in one piece.   A real character. This miniature is a fine addition to any 15mm science fiction collection for any game system.

Here are some views of the miniature from different angles:

Of course you earn reward points on all orders too through your account.  We realise that some of you may wish to purchase the currently free miniature to get multiples of it without placing a lot of orders so you can do just that.  Visit this page on the website for the miniature at a fair price for a special miniature.  There is a growing page on the Ion Age website where the current and all former IMP series free miniatures are shown so that you can see what came before.  Enjoy and go HERE

As it is our second year we look back at this time last year and see what the free miniature was at that time.  In November 2013 the free miniature was IMP03 Knight of the Dead. It was our third miniature to be given out free.  You can find this miniature in the Year One Collection if you are lacking it.

From now until 1st November all orders that arrive with us will still get the IMP14 miniature free and the IMP15 miniature AS WELL!  I have also had enough emails and requests to keep the current offer on the new Espaten platforms, motive units and gun crews open (15% off regular prices) that we will do so until the start of November; see these on our website.  Bonus!

Espaten Portable Weapon Scenic Shots

This short post has a couple of points to put across to you.  Firstly three excellent scenic photos of our new Espaten Portable Weapon Platforms each with a short caption to tell you just what is happening in the action.  These are by request of IonFan's who are keen to see their new miniatures on the battlefields of our space opera future and we are happy to oblige.  Secondly I want to tell you a little about the end of this month and what will be happening as we roll into the wintry and more fearsome November.  So without further ado lets dive on in!

Espaten Portable Weapon Scenic Shots

An embattled Muster Squad teams up with an Espaten platform mounting the long twin barrelled Moth 88 cannon.  They direct their fire from the partial shelter of a Block House while a dead Retained Knight testifies to the fight that has gone on over this ground already.  Miniatures used are from IAF046A Espaten Platform, IAF059 Muster 2nd Squad, IAF056 Muster Espaten Crew, IAF004 Retained Command Demi Alpha and IAF040 Block House.

With foes coming at them from both sides a parked Mullo AFV with twin Angis 25mm AP Cannons is facing down distant enemies while a small group of Retained Knights supported by a Valerin 15MW Laser Cannon mounted on an Espaten platform make ready to repel those who would destroy them as they approach from the other direction.  Miniatures used are from IAF046E Espaten Platform, IAF055 Retained Espaten Crew, IAF008 Retained Post Charlie and IAF042C Mullo Armoured Fighting Vehicle.

Getting there in a hurry.  A pair of Muster gunners accompany their twin barrelled Moth 88 Espaten on its tracked motive system through a rocky plain making sure to avoid the downed wreak of a Skylark Patrol Flyer. Where are they hurrying to?  Miniatures used are from IAF046A Espaten Platform, IAF065 Espaten Tracked Unit, IAF056 Muster Espaten Crew and IAF033 Crashed Skylark.

The End of October and Into November

From Thursday 30th we will be changing from the current IMP14 Female Retained Knight as the free monthly miniature and replacing it with the awesome new free miniature for November IMP15 Witch Knight.  While there will be a full article on the sultry Witch Knight upon the morrow for now I want to say this.  All orders that arrive until the 1st November will still get the IMP14 miniature free and from Thursday this week the IMP15 miniature AS WELL!

I have also had enough emails and requests to keep the current offer on the new Espaten platforms, motive units and gun crews open (15% off regular prices) that we will do so until the start of November.  Bonus!

IAF046 Espaten Portable Weapon codes released!

It is well known to the regiments of the Prydian Army that while Retained Knights armed with the superb Angis 12.5mm AP Rifle can inflict serious harm upon any opponent there is a limit to their ability to bring down larger targets or suppress areas of a battlefield.  This applies particularly in open ground rather than in intense urban environments and also against battlesuits such as the Havelock and the Duxis types.  Even with Alwite powered armour larger weapons cannot be easily transported and used in hand.  No experienced commander expects his troops to be able to stand against these kinds of threats without appropriate support.  This was known before the outbreak of the Civil War and the solution to providing this support to infantry was taken from surviving records from the time of the Ban of Prejudice.  A project to bring the 'Espaten' series of Portable Weapon Platforms into service was begun and was a great success. A success beyond all expectations.

Beginning in earnest in 4320IC with forty newly fabricated Espaten being fielded during an activation crisis in the Gurtan system these portable weapons mounted a Moth 88 automatic two barrel cannon and performed excellently against the rampant droids.  With an ability to mount a support weapon in the same power scale as a battlesuit and be controlled by a team of two gunners Espaten's could be deployed at the Platoon or Lance level easily.  A far lower fabrication cost has also contributed to the rapid uptake of portable weapons as a regimental staple.   Portable Weapons are just that.  With a lot of fire power and easy to move from threat to threat they work well with troopers who cannot expect vehicle protection.

There are Espaten Portable Weapon platforms in service throughout the Prydian Army and also with the Marcher Barons in alliance with the League of Yordan and the League of Canlaster as well as with mercenaries and also some wealthier civilian organisations.  They come in many forms and are often adapted to suit planetary conditions or the challenges of certain enemies.  Weapon systems favoured by Espatans are variants of those used by the Havelock Battlesuit and include the following.  The Moth Type 88 rotary cannon, the Angis 25mm AP Cannon, the Fretan II Rail Gun, the Valerin 15MW Laser Cannon and the Bodkin Howitzer all used for fire support both short and longer ranged.  There is one notable exception and that is the Moth 88 twin long barrelled cannon variant which is primarily used against enemy air vehicles such as Skylarks but can be used against ground targets also.   The weapon platform itself is static on four titanium alloy struts with an integral titanium gun shield and it can be equipped with two kinds of motive systems.  Used by the Muster is the type 38 quad tracked Espaten Motive System which can keep pace with most infantry and used by the Retained is the MkXI Repuslar Motive System which holds the portable weapon just above ground level in a steady hover.

Espaten Portable Weapons have gone from a relic of a bygone age to a core part of campaigning all across the Prydian Precinct.  They have earned their nicknames 'the spitters of death' on dozens of worlds.

Academy Auto-Trainer Series 07, New Glastonbury, 4325IC

Its a mega big release of codes for us this week with the release not only of the six variants of the Esptaten Portable Weapon Platforms but also two packs of propulsion units for them and two packs of gun crew as well.  A bonanza that gives you a cool choice of 15mm scale white metal support weapons for use with The Ion Age or any other setting that you choose.   What's more there is a release offer on all of these codes for a week saving you 15% off the regular pack prices.  Awesome!  Read on to see just what is now on our website.

IAF046 Espaten Portable Weapon - 6 Variants
The central infantry support weapon platform the Espaten earns a place on any battlefield. Here is an image which shows all of the parts which are used to make up one and all variants of the Espaten Portable Weapon platform. Go HERE

The core pieces are the four legged stand, the housing block and the gun shield.  These are the same in all variants and onto this is mounted one weapon.  The options here are Moth 88 twin long barreled cannon (A), Moth 88 rotary cannon (B), Angis AP Cannon (C), Bodkin Howizter (D), Valerin Laser Cannon (E) and the Fretan Rail Gun (F).  Weapons mount one of two ways with the gun shield fitted over them or around them.  Here is an image of all the variants assembled and painted up in Prydian Army colours.  Lovely!

You can get an idea of the size of the finished portable weapon by noting that each of them is standing on a 30mm round base (their basing size for Patrol Angis) and again they are labelled with the letter corresponding to their variant weapon.  Each pack contains one portable weapon kit and you can choose your variant on the website in a great drop down menui. As always these variant codes can be bought as a pack or select the three packs and save 10% option on the page. Price per pack 2.00GBP.  Go HERE.

IAF065 and IAF066 Espaten Propulsion Units – 2 Variants
While it is perfectly fitting to have your Espaten Portable Weapons static on the battlefield giving fire support or acting in a defensive and dug in formation you might want some pace to them and a way to get them around during the heat of battle.  We now have two packs of motive systems suitable for all variants of the IAF046 portable weapon.  For use by the Muster or other lower technology forces there is the IAF065 Espaten Tracked Propulsion Units and for the Retained or other higher technology forces there is IAF066 Espaten Anti-Gravity Propulsion Units.  Here are images of the two.

We are placing four identical units in every pack with a price per pack of 5.00GBP.  These propulsion units give your portable weapons the ability to be truly portable and they just ooze space opera.  Below are two all angle images of an IAF046A Moth 88 twin long barrelled Espaten fitted to the tracked and also the anti-gravity propulsion units.  Combining up the two gives more meaning and more durability to your collection. As always this code can be bought as a pack or as singles or select the three packs and save 10% option on the page. Go HERE and HERE.

IAF055 and IAF056 Espaten Crews – 2 Packs
We have two new codes of Espaten Gunners as well as the weapons themselves and their optional propulsion units.  One of Muster Troopers and one of Retained Knights meaning your can place Espaten Portable Weapons into your Platoons or Lances in the upcoming Patrol Angis (where a portable weapon has two crew) or any other space opera wargame system you prefer.  These are codes.

IAF055 Retained Espaten Crew
This pack contains two 15mm scale white metal miniatures in different poses.  Two Retained Knights in Alwite Powered Armour with the first holding the remote control interface for a portable weapon and the second with arm raised checking ranges.  As always this code can be bought as a pack or as single miniatures or select the three packs and save 10% option on the page. Price 1.00GBP per pack. Go HERE.

IAF056 Muster Espaten Crew
This pack contains two 15mm scale white metal miniatures in different poses.  Two Muster Troopers in Aketon armour with the first holding the remote control interface for a portable weapon and the second with arm raised checking ranges.  As always this code can be bought as a pack or as single miniatures or select the three packs and save 10% option on the page. Price 1.00GBP per pack. Go HERE.

So there you have it and of course you will get the current IMP14 Female Retained Knight monthly miniature FREE in all orders as well.

Lasers and Broadswords blog Mullo Armoured Fighting Vehicles

The three Mullo AFV Variants
Retained Knight, Geo Shelter and Mullo in 15mm scale
When I look at the web and check out what people are doing with my life's work it makes me smile every time I see the joy that our miniatures bring to people.  Currently for The Ion Age few are as active on their blog as Alexander is on his Lasers and Broadswords blog as a fan of our products.  His latest Ion Age posting is all about the brand new vehicle reinforcements his Galactic Knights have received from the fabricators on New Glastonbury (well..Scotland but never mind that!) a trio of awesome Mullo Armoured Fighting Vehicles.

You can read the full post with more pictures.  I think the Mullo looks excellent in its bright blue with white details and strikingly different from our own browns colour scheme which you can see below.

IAF042 Mullo AFV can be found on our website.  We consider it to be our first medium sized vehicle and larger than the Adder Combat Car or Combat Lifter you can see in the picture. Interestingly Alexander considers it a 'monster' a behemoth in 15mm scale and that is fine with us. Its meant to carry Retained Knights and powered armour needs room inside the hull.  The Mullo is a wheeled vehicle in a true space opera style and its quite special.  Well done Alexander!

With the release this week of the Portable Weapon Platforms we continue to grow and as I said the Mullo is a super medium vehicle...there are large vehicles to come.

Firefight 2.0 Tiles only option now on website

This is a short post and the name says it all.  I do wonder why I did not see the need here for the tile sheets from Firefight 2.0 to be available on their own.  Perhaps Lady Rosafiend distracted me.  So if you want to expand your city streets for the 28mm science fiction game of intense gridded combat in The Ion Age you can now.

Click on the drop down menu on the product page and you will see the options for the book and tiles, boxed set game or just the tiles.

Lasers and Broadswords blog has a Corbal Deployable Hardpoint

The Galactic Marines brand new Corbal
The Lasers and Broadswords blog run by Alexander has put up a post showing many views of the IAF041 Corbal Deployable Hardpoint painted in a fetching shade of blue with white detailing.  You can go to the article HERE.

Corbal with 15mm Miniature for scale
The parts of the Corbal Deployable Hardpoint
You will be more used to see the Corbal in its white and red scheme that we use but I think that it dramatically changes this resin kit by the use of different colours.  While Alexander is using the Corbal for his own setting outside of The Ion Age he has nothing but praise for this model.

Alexander hints that his next project is a set of Ion Age Mullo AFV's which he has in his possession.  I wonder what they will look like in royal blue....
